8. Why are LEDs relatively expensive?

Answer

LED systems are a piece of technology, they're complex and relatively expensive to produce compared to incandescent and CFL lights. A LED system earns itself back on the energybill and therefore is a good investment.

For example: A 5W LUUMS LED bulb earns itself back in 2 years when used 4 hours a day, after that you can profit from it for about another 15 years. You save about 80%, in this calculation the replacements of the conventional light in the total lifetime of the LED light are taken into allowance.
